Our Events

Freshman Orientation

Incoming freshman are introduced to the high school. Student Council officers speak about high school experiences and the student government. Ice cream is provided in the cafeteria.

Back to School Night

Parents follow their child's schedule and meet teachers. Student Council members point parents in the direction of the rooms they are looking for.

Powder Puff Game

One of our biggest events. The Senior girls face off against the Junior girls in an always-exciting game of two hand touch football! Halftime entertainment is provided by all-boy cheerleading squads. Perhaps one of the most fun events that our school has to offer, whether you're playing, coaching, dancing, or even just watching!

Fall Drama

Student Council members sell tickets, hand out programs, and act as ushers for the Drama Club's fall drama production.

Safe Halloween

Another one of our biggest events. Clubs and other school organizations decorate classrooms and hallways with Halloween themes. Children from the community are able to trick-or-treat in a safe environment. The Student Council has its own room in addition to creating and maintaining the Haunted Hallway. We also run a food drive for Suffolk County veterans.

Fall Blood Drive

Students donate blood in order to benefit those in need. Organized by Peer Leaders, Student Council members assist at the front desk and as escorts, monitoring the donors.

PTO Craft Fair

Organized by the PTO. Community members and school organizations sell various items, including crafts and raffles. Student Council sells holiday cards to raise funds for the Adopt-a-Family foundation.

Adopt-a-Family

Using money raised from selling holiday cards, we purchase holiday gifts for underprivileged children in the community. These families cannot afford gifts nor can they afford necessities such as clothing and diapers. Through the Adopt-a-Family foundation, we do what we can to help those less fortunate than us have a wonderful holiday.

Musical

Student Council members sell tickets, hand out programs, and act as ushers for the Drama Club's musical production.

Spring Blood Drive

Students donate blood to in order to benefit those in need. Organized by Peer Leaders, Student Council members assist at the front desk and as escorts, monitoring the donors.

Car Show (discontinued)

We host a car show in the high school parking lot. We have classic cars, sports cars, and even trucks - plus music from DJ Tappin, pizza from Cafe Spiga, ice cream from Mr. Softy, and a dunk tank! Admission is free but we accept cash donations at the door - please remember to bring non-perishable food items for our Stuff-a-Bus Food Drive!

The Constitution

The government of Mount Sinai High School has two components: class officers and the Student Council. You can think of our student government like this: the class officers are the "state" government, as they are responsible solely to their respective classes. The Student Council, on the other hand, is the "national" government, as it is responsible to all four classes.

Click on the PDF image above to view the Student Council's constitution. In it, you will find that we intend to “promote a forum for student participation in the operation of Mt. Sinai High School.” Throughout this year and into the future, we will do whatever we can to get YOU more involved in what goes on in this school. This website is just the first step in this process.

Please give The Constitution a look over so that you may better understand what we in the Student Council strive to do for you.
